Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday stressed the need for working together by the South Asian nations to further accelerate the economic development of the region.
The National Economic Council (NEC) today approved the Annual Development Programme (ADP) of Taka 86,000 crore for the financial year 2014-15 with the incorporation of the own financing projects of corporations and autonomous bodies of Taka 5,685 crore that has raised the total ADP size.
An important progress has been made in construction of Padma Bridge. A construction firm, China Major Bridge Engineering Company Ltd has been selected to construct the long aspired bridge on the river Padma.
Government is going to provide skills training to 1.25 million young workers. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will lend $350 million to Bangladesh to help public and private institutions scale up skills training for the young workers.
