Published on December 31, 2015Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid and Primary and Mass Education Minister Advocate Mustafizur Rahman handed over the results to the Prime Minister at a simple ceremony held at the PM's official Ganobhaban residence here this morning.
From the same function, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the textbook distribution programme across the country.
A total of 333,762,760 books as well as education materials would be distributed free of cost among 4,416,728 students of pre-primary to ninth grades for the next academic session, beginning on Jan 1.
The chairmen of eight general education boards and one madrasa board handed over the JSC and Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) exam results of their respective board to Sheikh Hasina.
A total of 20,98,082 students passed the JSC and JDC exams out of 23,25,933 appeared with the approximate percentage of 92.
In the PSC and Ebtedayee exams, a total of 27,97,294 passed out of 32,54, 514 appeared with the percentage at 98.52.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister spelled out her government's stride for the development of education, saying that no nation could achieve its desired goal without education.
Sheikh Hasina also extended her New Year greetings to the countrymen and said the Textbook Festival to be celebrated tomorrow is a New Year gift for the people.
At the function, Director General of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Directorate Professor Fahima Khatoon adorned the Prime Minister with an "Uttaria" on the occasion of the inauguration of the textbook distribution programme.
Prime Minister's Adviser HT Imam, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Primary and Mass Education Ministry Motahar Hossain, PMO Secretary Suraiya Begum, Education Secretary Sohrab Hossain, Primary and Mass Education Secretary Humayun Khalid, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim and NCTB Chairman Professor Narayan Chandra Paul were present on the occasion, among others.
