Robotics will take Bangladesh to the level of a developed nation: Sajeeb Wazed

He came up with the observation while inaugurating a specialized lab at Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) on Tuesday noon.

Established under leveraging ICT (LICT) project, the lab has been launched to increase the efficiency of the IT officials and professionals of the government agencies, aimed at creating e-governance.

The ICT adviser also launched a computer game titled "Muktijuddho 71", a social networking site-based application "Bijoy 71", parental control software titled "Sonamoni Guard" and a bomb disposal robot.

"We will provide training to 50 thousand youths yearly in IT and this LICT lab will become handy in this regard. I am feeling very happy and proud by seeing that youths in our country are innovating such technologies," said Joy.

While talking about the game developed by the fund provided by the ICT division, the young adviser, who himself is an avid fan of first-person shooting game, went gaga over the quality of the game.

He couldn't resist himself from trying the game for some moments.

"I am very impressed by seeing the quality of the graphics. I would like to congratulate the developer. I also would like to congratulate the developers of Bijoy 71 and Sonamoni Guard," the adviser said.

The proud IT expert also lauded the developer of the bomb disposal robot, saying, "I didn't know that we have already innovated robotic technology. It will make us a force to be reckoned with. All the developed nations are emphasizing on the robotic technology and it will bring us to their level."

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, introduced Joy with different technologies and operations of the newly established lab. ICT secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder and other top officials of ICT division were present on the occasion, among others.

Two trainees of the lab, Md Shamsul Hoque, additional SP of CID (cyber crimes unit), and Dr Md Shohrab Hossain, associate professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), briefed the adviser about the training they are receiving and have already received.

According to the ICT division, people will be provided training in giving safe information and service online, ensuring interoperability of information using the national enterprise architecture, cloud computing, IT service management, developing contents for social mediums, innovating mobile applications, and big data analyses, among other things.

The lab will be able to provide training in all the matters of social, mobile, analytics and cloud (SMAC) lab. Government officials will be trained in dealing cyber attacks and cybercrimes.
