The state-owned enterprise, CLETC, also offered to extend all sorts of cooperation to increase production capacity of the state-owned sugar mills in Bangladesh.
A five-member delegation of the CLETC, led by its president Wang Xianyang, conveyed their eagerness at a meeting with Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu at his Secretariat office, said a handout.
The four other delegation members are Zheng Yining, Liang Qi, Chen Hui and Li De.
At the meeting, the delegation members said the CLETC has been providing technical assistance to many countries in producing sugar, paper, leather, milk powder and beverage. The CLETC is also eager to provide such assistance to Bangladesh to produce paper and sugar, they added.
Industries Minister said the government is considering continuing production in the state-owned sugar mills even outside the season for making the factories profitable ones.
The Chinese company can assist the mills to produce sugar outside the season and to diversify their products. It also can help Bangladesh cultivate high-yielding varieties of sugarcane, he added.
Amu said availability of raw materials alongside cost effective technology is needed to make the state-owned North Bengal Paper Mills, Khulna Newsprint Mills and Khulna Hardboard Mills profitable.
The government might consider any proposal for procuring raw materials from alternative sources and providing appropriate technology for the paper mills, the minister told the delegation.
Industries secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation Mahmudul Haque Bhuiyan and chairman of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation Mohammad Iqbal were present.
