Of the target, he said, 5 million will be replaced by 2017 that require an expenditure of US$ 100 million, according to a message received in Dhaka.
The UN Foundation and Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves jointly organized the two-day summit under a UN program titled “Sustainable Energy for All by 2030”.
Ministers and senior officials from countries including Norway, Ghana, Nigeria, USA, China and Cuba attended the conference.
Nasrul Hamid said Bangladesh is trying to give a touch in every aspects of development, as it would be transformed into a developed one by the year 2030 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
As part of the effort in energy sector, the country is providing incentives to efficient use of energy while undertaking initiatives to ensure optimum utilization of energy through introducing improved cookstoves.
“We’re determined to ensure smoke-free and safe kitchen,” he told the summit.
The summit marks an important opportunity in the Alliance’s efforts to prevent the more than 4 million deaths that occur every year from household air pollution caused by smoke from the use of open fires and traditional cookstoves.
