PM Praises Malaysian Government For Their Decision To Recruit More Bangladeshi Manpower

The Prime Minister extended her thanks when visiting Malaysian Human Resources Minister Richard Riot Anak Jaem called on her at her office here this afternoon.

After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters.

He said the Prime Minister and the Malaysian Minister discussed matters relating to mutual interests, especially recruiting manpower from Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina said as the Bangladeshi workers are hard-working, loyal and resilient, it is good for economy of both the countries.

"The Bangladeshi workers are playing a big role in the economic uplift of both the countries," she said.

In this connection, the Malaysian minister mentioned that apart from the plantation sector, his country would recruit Bangladeshi workers in infrastructure, service and manufacturing sectors under government to government (G2G) initiative.

Terming Malaysia as a good friend of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister hoped that the existing friendly and brotherly ties between the two countries would be further strengthened in the years to come.

In this connection, Sheikh Hasina recalled the visit of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to Malaysia.

"The bilateral relations between Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur have been consolidating day by day since Bangabandhu's tour to Malaysia," she mentioned.

The Press Secretary said the issue of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to Malaysia in November this year also came up for discussion.

He said the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is likely to visit Malaysia in the first week of November this year at the invitation of the Malaysian premier.

Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, PM's Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Shikdar, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Secretary Dr Khandakar Shawkat Hossain, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury and Malaysian High Commissioner Norlin Binti Othman were present on the occasion, among others.
