PM Pays Homage To Father Of The Nation At Tungipara

After placing the wreathr, the Prime Minister stood in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of the architect of the independence.

The chiefs of the three services and the principal staff officer of the Armed Forces Division gave an armed salute to the Father of the Nation, who spearheaded the nation in achieving independence.

A smartly turned out contingent drawn from the three services gave an honour guard, while bugle played the last post.

A special prayer was offered seeking eternal peace of departed souls of Bangabandhu, Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of August 15, 1975 massacre.

Prayers were also offered seeking country's continued peace, progress and prosperity.

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan, Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif, PM's Security Adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadeque and Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad ASM Feroze, among others, were present.

Parliament members, senior Awami League leaders, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, PM's Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikdar and Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury were present.

Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also placed a wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu.

Central Awami League leaders laid a wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu on behalf of the party. Later, leaders of different associate bodies of Awami League placed wreaths at the mazar.

The Prime Minister, cabinet members, party leaders and workers joined a milad and doa mahfil on the mazar premises marking the National Mourning Day, organized by the cabinet division and Gopalganj district administration.
