Published on December 18, 2013The move of the Pakistan parliament has exposed the fact that present rulers of Pakistan still could not accept their defeat in 1971 and they are not remorseful for their crime against humanity in Bangladesh in 1971, she said.
The Prime Minister was giving an introductory speech in a meeting with the 14-party leaders at her Gonobhaban residence here this evening.
Sheikh Hasina said, the execution of the death penalty of Abdul Qader Mollah has delivered justice to the families of martyrs who lost their near and dear ones in the war in the hands of Pakistani army and their local cohorts. Only, Pakistani rulers and their cohorts in Bangladesh including the opposition leader and Jamaat-e-Islami could not accept the execution of Quader Mollah.
Expressing her firm resolve to complete the trial of the war criminals, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, the trial of the war criminals is crucial for the country's prosperity. There is no room for war criminals in Bangladesh, she said, adding, "We will complete the trial of all war criminals."
Sheikh Hasina said, BNP and Jamaat would not be successful to halt the country's progress. "We have earned independence through huge sacrifice and we would protect it by any means and build the country as a prosperous nation by 2021," she said.
The Prime Minister urged the countrymen to forge resistance with courage and all organizational strength against the evil forces which are out to destroy the country's economy and democracy. "You should not furl you hands. The terrorists must be given befitting reply," she said.
The Prime Minister said, her government has made its relentless efforts to continue their constitutional process and hold the election with all political parties. "So, we have always tried to reach a consensus with the opposition party, she said.
"But, it's very lamenting that leader of the opposition gave me ultimatum either to leave the country or quit from power whenever I proposed her for dialogue," Sheikh Hasina said.
Despite all these, I called the opposition leader for dialogue. "We kept open the parliament session for a long with a hope that the opposition will join and discuss their adjourned motion on next election, the Prime Minister said.
"The leader of the opposition also rejected my proposal for all-party government for conducting the next polls. But, now we can realize its (BNP's) motive for not participating in the poll without Jamaat," she said.
If BNP really believed in democracy, they would have come to the election, Sheikh Hasina said.
