"It's very important to protect the rights of the children and build them up best ideologically, as they are the future leaders and shaper of all prospects," Sheikh Hasina added. Urging the teachers and the parents to treat children with sympathy, she said "Everybody in the world is not the same; we've to realise this fact that not all children will be equally good in their study. Each child has an identity of its own and we've to nurse them so they can grow up with their respective identity."
"Today's children will lead the world in future and be the architect of the changing days," she said, and asked the children to learn their lessons with care along with participating in games and sports.
With State Minister for Children and Women Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by Secretary of the Ministry Tariqul Islam and UNICEF country representative in Bangladesh Dr Pascal Villeneuve. Athoi and Faisal, two most disadvantaged children, now taking education with government support, also spoke on the occasion and shared their life experience with the audience.
