In January 2014, Bangladesh Awami League was elected to state power for the second consecutive time since 2009. This time, the government aimed to fulfill the pledges made in its 2014 election manifesto titled: “Marching Ahead Bangladesh” as well as sustaining the momentum of development started during its earlier tenure since 2009.
The Constitution of Bangladesh (Article 15) recognises the fundamental responsibility of the state to secure to its citizens the provision of the basic necessities of life including food. Besides that Article 18 states that the state is obligated to regard the raising of the level of nutrition and
Bangladesh's commitment to education has been clearly stated in its Constitution and development plans with education being given the highest priority in the public sector investments.
Recently Bangladesh has taken part in the 69th session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) which was led by honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This session is a great success as Bangladesh has been able to uphold itself before the world.
It is now widely accepted that Bangladesh has made significant strides in social progress and human development indicators. However, Bangladesh has also been a success story in economic terms.
