We have noted with concern that the cancelled FCC seminar in New Delhi on 29 August 2026 has been presented in a misleading manner in some media reports.

The programme was not an Awami League programme. It was neither organised, sponsored, authorised, nor directed by the Bangladesh Awami League. As reflected in the publicly circulated programme, it was an independent seminar hosted by the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of South Asia (FCC) and another organisation.

Any individual associated with the Awami League who intended to attend the seminar would have done so in a personal or professional capacity. Such participation cannot reasonably turn an independent international seminar into a party event. Portraying the programme as an Awami League event creates an inaccurate public impression and unnecessarily affects the image of the party.

Various media outlets subsequently published reports without making any effort to contact representatives of the Awami League for comment. This is deeply concerning, particularly in light of basic principles of journalistic conduct and fairness.

The Bangladesh Awami League strongly condemns and protests against this baseless and misleading reporting.
