Published on July 9, 2024Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh, emphasising the potential for achieving significant progress through collaborative efforts between the two nations.
"Now is the right time to invest in Bangladesh. If China and Bangladesh join hands together, there is a possibility to achieve great things," she said during the China-Bangladesh Investment and Trade Conference held in Beijing on Tuesday (July 9).
In her address, Sheikh Hasina said, "Bangladesh wants to boost export trade with China. So, I am calling on Chinese entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh."
She highlighted the opportune moment for investment and the promising outcomes that could result from strengthened economic ties.
The Prime Minister also encouraged Bangladeshi businessmen to proactively seek partnerships, stating that collaboration with Chinese counterparts could lead to substantial economic benefits.
The Prime Minister's visit to Beijing, which began on Monday (July 8), marks a significant step towards enhancing the bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and China. This four-day visit aims to elevate the partnership from a 'strategic partnership' to a 'strategic comprehensive cooperative partnership.'
During her stay in Beijing from July 8 to 11, Prime Minister Hasina is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and a delegation-level meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday (July 10).
The discussions are expected to cover a range of topics aimed at deepening economic and strategic ties between the two countries.
As part of this visit, 20 to 22 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are likely to be signed between Bangladesh and China, reflecting the commitment to expanding cooperation in various sectors.
This visit is part of Prime Minister Hasina's ongoing efforts to foster international partnerships and drive economic growth in Bangladesh.
She last visited Beijing in July 2019 and has made several visits to China over the years, each time working to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
Following her visit to China, Prime Minister Hasina will depart from Beijing Capital International Airport on a special flight (BG1704) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines on Thursday (July 11) at 11 am, local time.
The flight is scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 2 pm, Bangladesh time, on the same day.
This visit is expected to result in significant advancements in trade, investment, and strategic cooperation between Bangladesh and China, further solidifying the bond between the two countries.
