Awami League pays tribute to Bangabandhu marking 73rd Anniversary

On the occasion of the 73rd founding anniversary of the Bangladesh Awami League, leaders and activists of the Awami League and allied organizations paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi on Thursday morning.

On this day in 1949, the party made its debut in the traditional Rose Garden of old Dhaka under the name of Awami Muslim League, but later it developed as a non-communal organization under the name of Awami League only.

Earlier in the day, on the occasion of the 73rd founding anniversary, the party's President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi No. 32. After laying a wreath at the portrait, Sheikh Hasina stood in silence for a while paying homage to the Father of the Nation.

Later, along with the senior leaders of the party, as the President of Awami League, Sheikh Hasina on behalf of her party paid homage to the father of the nation by laying another wreath at his portrait.

Awami League Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu MP, Presidium Member Begum Matia Chowdhury MP, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim MP, Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya Bir Bikram, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, and AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Joint General Secretary Mahbub Alam, Information and Broadcasting Minister. Hasan Mahmud, Organizing Secretary Ahmed Hossain, Afzal Hossain and SM Kamal Hossain, Publicity and Publication Secretary. Abdus Sobhan Golap was present among others.
