Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has proved that only she is indispensable for Bangladesh, says the ruling party’s youth wing Bangladesh Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash.
“During the 1/11 of 2007 (the military-backed caretaker regime), a government official asked me, why is Sheikh Hasina essential for Bangladesh Awami League and the politics of Bangladesh? Today the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is giving these answers,” he said on Monday.
Parash made the remarks while addressing a discussion meeting arranged by Jubo League’s central committee at Bangabandhu Avenue.
He said that Sheikh Hasina has answered through her actions why she is indispensable for Bangladesh.
Coming down hard on the BNP-Jamat-e-Islam led government, the Jubo League leader said that during that regime, Bangladesh was a champion in corruption for five times in a row but today there is a clear message: “No one who is corrupt is safe in Bangladesh, under the regime of Sheikh Hasina.”
“Today Awami League leaders, bureaucrats, and government officials of several sectors involved in corruption are facing the music,” he said.
He added that today the judiciary is independent which is why every accused, be it lawmakers or administrative officers, is facing trial and being punished.
“I have seen many governments after 1975, but no other government has been able to show the same honesty and integrity as Sheikh Hasina's government in Bangladesh’s 50 years,” Sheikh Parash said.
After the discussion, Jubo League leaders distributed clothes and wheelchairs among the underprivileged and physically challenged people to mark the 42nd anniversary of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s home coming day from exile.
