Nation pays homage to the martyrs of 15th August

Different government, semi-government, autonomous bodies, socio-cultural and voluntary organisations and educational institutions observed the National Mourning Day and the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman paying glowing homage to him.

The Ministry of Law, Ministry of Land, Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock also observed the day with due respect and solemnity placing wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu, according to the statement.

Law Minister Anisul Huq and Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim also took part in different discussion prayers and discussions to observe the day.

Apart from this, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh observed the day with due respect and placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu.

Chief Justice of Bangladesh Syed Mahmud Hossain, among other top court judges, was present during placing wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu in the morning.

Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence also observed the day placing wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu and arranging a prayer programme attended by its Director General (DG) Md Sazzad Hossain.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), an Autonomous Body under the Ministry of Commerce, arranged a prayer and discussion programme attended by State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid. ICAB president Mahmudul Hasan Khusru FCA chaired the meeting.

The Bangladesh Dairy Farmers' Association (BDFA) also arranged a prayer and discussion programme attended by its president Mohammad Imran Hossain and general secretary Shah Emran.

The BDFA also distributed food among the poor and helpless people to mark the day.

The Association of Bangladesh-China Alumni also observed the day.

The national flag was hoisted at half-mast in all public, private buildings and educational institutions to mark the day.
