Jubo League, youth wing of Awami League, has provided food items for more than 6 lakh helpless people across the country during the ongoing second wave of coronavirus outbreak.
After the announcement of countrywide lockdown from April 5, the youth body has started giving food assistance. Later, it started distributing iftar and other relief items among the poor, a press release said.
Jubo League chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash said that his organisation have been involved in providing assistance to helpless and destitute people as per directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Now, Jubo League has become a humanitarian organisation,” he said.
“Such activities including giving food assistance to the poor will continue until coronavirus pandemic ends,” he added.
Earlier, the youth organisation helped over 4.4 million people during the first wave of Covid-19.
Echoing the remark of chairman, Jubo League general secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil said his party always stand by people.
