Govt signs Covid-19 vaccine procurement contract with Serum Institute of India

The government has signed Covid-19 vaccine procurement contract with Serum Institute of India today.

The agreement was signed at an event at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in presence of Health Minister Zahid Maleque.

Prof ABM Khurshid Alam, director general of the DGHS; Prof Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of the DGHS; Nazmul Hasan Papon, managing director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, attended the event, among others.

Earlier, the health ministry signed a tri-lateral memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Beximco and Serum Institute of India to purchase three crore doses of Oxford AstraZeneca's vaccine.

Serum Institute will supply 50 lakh shots of vaccine each month after it is approved for mass use.
