Awami League on Sunday formed two committees to assess the damages done by Cyclone Fani.

The party will also distribute relief among the cyclone affected people.

At a press conference at the party president's political office in Dhanmondi in the capital, AL Advisory Council Member Amir Hossain Amu revealed the information.

AL Presidium Member Matia Chowdhury, Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, among others, were present at the press conference.

Amu said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, now in London on an official visit, has phoned and gathered information about the damage of the cyclone.

She has given us necessary directives to support the affected people, he said.

The AL senior leader came down heavily on the BNP as the opposition party alleged that the government did not have proper preparation to tackle the cyclone.
