Published on October 26, 2013Communication system is much more important for the business and other sectors. After assuming office in 2008, Bangladesh Awami League is constantly working for the development of infrastructural and communication sectors and hopes for doing the same in upcoming days.
Roads and Highways:
During the tenure of the last BNP-JAMAT government, the communication system of Bangladesh was totally flat-faced. Since then the current Awami League has been trying heart and soul for reconstructing the communication system of Bangladesh from ashes. The current government of Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangladesh Awami League has constructed 30.5 km of new road and 4046 meters of new concrete bridge in order to create a sustainable and modernized communication infrastructure. For lessening the troubles of the rural people, current government has repaired 2,270 km of roads. The government has also expanded 528 km road and surfaced 2,372 km of roads. By establishing Shah Amanat Bridge on the carnafuli river, government has made the communication between Chittagong and other parts of the country easy. Two big milestones in the communication sector has been Jatrabari-Gulistan connecting Mayor Hanif flyover and Baddarhaat flyover in Chittagong. Mayor Hanif flyover will play an important role for diminishing the problem of traffic jam in Jatrabari area. This will help the vehicles which go via Dhaka. M A Manna flyover was a dream of the inhabitants of Chittagong. By keeping these promises AL government once again proved that they are totally dedicated to the mass people of Bangladesh. For the security of the vehicles government has started to use Radio Frequency Identification tag. Apart from these, government is trying to improve Dhaka-Chittagong highway into 4 lanes in order to decrease traffic jam in that region.
Railway:
Railway is one of the important medium of communication in Bangladesh. Government has taken various steps for developing the railway sector. Rangppur express in Dhaka-Rangpur route, Chattala express in Dhaka-Chittagong route along with 45 new trains have been started working.
River route:
River is an integral medium of communication for the inhabitants of South-Bengal. Government has established four new river port in Tongi, Noapara, Vairab and Barguna. Government has also modernized Dhaka and Barishal river port.
Future Plans:
Bangladesh Awami League is dedicated to make Bangladesh a middle-income country. Economic development is impossible without a strong infrastructure. For this current government has taken 20 years long 2009-2029 master plans for communication and for implementing these plans , the works of turning Dhaka-Chittagong highway into four lanes, constructing elevated expressway from Shahjalal International airport to Kutubkhali, Kuril Flyover are running in full speed. To lessen the pressure on general transport system government has taken initiative for metro rail project which is worth tk 2200 crore.
Bangladesh Awami league believes that proper development of a country can’t be done without the infrastructural development. So Bangladesh Awami League is committed to make Bangladesh a model for all the other countries of the world by developing and modernizing the infrastructural sector.
