"Exchange of enclaves and people in a festive mood is a rare example in the world history," the Prime Minister told the Indian Speaker when she made a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at Gonobhaban on Sunday evening.

Sumitra Mahajan is now in Dhaka to attend the 136th assembly of the IPU.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the Prime Minister specially thanked Sumitra Mahajan as she was in the chair during passing of the Land Boundary Bill in the Indian parliament.

Sumitra informed that all members of the Lok Sabha were very happy to support the bill and it was really historic and remarkable.

Welcoming the Indian Lok Sabha Speaker, the Prime Minister extended her gratitude to the people and the government of India for its big help during the War of Liberation in 1971.

They also discussed various issues of mutual interests, the PM's press secretary said.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shariyar Alam, Secretary General of Indian Lok Sabha Secretariat Anoop Mishra and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla were present on the occasion.
