IPU Executive Committee members meet HPM Sheikh Hasina

President of the IPU Saber Hossain Chowdhury led the delegation.

During the meeting, the prime minister welcomed the members of the IPU executive committee and other delegation from different countries now in Bangladesh at 136th IPU Assembly.

Sheikh Hasina expressed Bangladesh's happiness over the joining of parliament members from across the world saying it's a testimony to the county's advancement and success in establishing democracy.

PM's press secretary Ihsanul Karim said the delegation members came up with their high appreciation over successful arrangement of such a big conference in Bangladesh.

They also expressed their gratitude to the prime minister for heartiest and sincere hospitality extended to them.

During the call on, chief of Japanese delegation expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for extending supports from Bangladesh following devastating earthquake in Japan a few years back.

In this regard, he expressed keenness to share experiences with Bangladesh on facing natural disasters saying his country wants to continue to pursue the issue at international forum.

Extending her thanks the premier said Bangladesh is always ready to face the challenges of natural disaster as such incidents is very frequent in Bangladesh.

Sheikh Hasina expressed her firm resolve to strengthen democratic system in Bangladesh.

The IPU President Saber Hossain Chowdhury said, Sheikh Hasina is the true Champion in the international arena and she was only the head of the government who was present during signing of the MDG in 2000 as well as in adoption of SDG in 2015.

The prime minister and the delegation members wished a very success of the 136th IPU Conference.

Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury and PMO Senior Secretary Suraiya Begum were present.
