"Development of residential plots and flats is taking place through 45 projects in 18 districts across the country," the prime minister said while replying to a tabled question from treasury bench member Enamul Haque in the Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday.
Sheikh Hasina said the government has increased residential facilities to 40 percent from 8 percent for reducing residential crisis of the employees of the republic.
The National Housing Authority has handed over 902 residential flats to allottees at Lalmatia and Mirpur in the city, she informed the House, adding, "The Public Works Department has undertaken a programme to construct 4,724 flats for all employees."
As part of this, 448 flats are being constructed at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar for officers and employees of Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat, the prime minister added.
