Published on June 22, 2016"As part of the circular river route project, relevant works including river dredging and construction of landing stations have been completed," she said while replying to a starred scripted query from treasury bench member AFM Bahauddin Nasim (Madaripur-3) during her question hour.
The Leader of the House said the scheme has been implemented in two phases. The circular river route have already been introduced with the coordination of the rivers around Dhaka city and the water buses are plying in limited scale alongside the movement of cargo vessels on the route.
She said the government has undertaken a plan to construct a 91-km four lane circular road with five meter divider from Abdullahpur to Abdullahpur via Dahur-Birulia-Gabtoli-Babubazar-Sadarghat-Fatullah, Chashara-Signboard-Shimrail-Demra-Purbachal-Termukh.
The Prime Minister said the Roads and Highways Department would construct 24-km road from Demra to Termukh after construction of embankment by the Water Development Board under the Easter Bypass Project as there is no road or embankment in that portion.
She said the Water Resources Ministry has been given the task for the lead agency to frame the DPP with coordination of other organizations terming the 24-km Dhaka Coordinated Flood Control Embankment-cum-Easter Bypass as Phase-1.
The Premier said a proposal for naming the 67-km portion as Dhaka-Circular Road, Phase-II has been made and the lead ministry of the scheme is the Road Transport and Highways Division.
She said the work on "topographical survey" by the Roads and Highways Division has been finalized to prepare a detailed estimate in the 67-km portion of the phase-II of the circular road.
The approval for tender evaluation report of feasibility study is under process, she said, adding the next steps would be taken through appointing consultant and framing the DPP after completing the feasibility study.
