Published on June 21, 2016The admiration came when a 16-member delegation comprising eight ruling party lawmakers and eight youth activists and Awami League leaders paid a six-day official visit to China.
The visit was facilitated by Centre for Research and Information (CRI) with the support of Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and the International Department of the central committee of CPC.
During a meeting, the Assistant Minister of International Department, Central Committee of CPC Ji Lun said Bangladesh has been able to achieve consistently high economic growth rate despite the global economic slowdown due to the forward looking leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
Delegation member, Barrister Shah Ali Farhad, who also works as policy analyst at CRI, said that the Chinese Communist Youth League has invited a delegation of youth from Bangladesh to an international youth forum and youth camp scheduled to be held in Beijing from October 24 to 30.
Quoting Ji Lun, Barrister Farhad, also an assistant secretary of Awami League's central sub-committee, said Bangladesh's socio-economic development successes under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were lauded by the Chinese officials during the meetings.
As part of the schedule, the delegation, toured cities of Kunming, Tianjin and Beijing, and had meetings with Wang Shufen, Vice Chairman, Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Yunnan Province and other leaders and officials of Yunnan Provincial CPC, Communist Party School in Kunming, Nankai University, counselor and other officials of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On his experience of the tour, Tonmoy Ahmed, a delegation member and an assistant secretary of Awami League's central sub-committee, said that they learnt a lot about Chinese politics and society as a result of the tour.
He added that people to people contacts between youth politicians would greatly help build closer ties between the two countries.
Held between June 12 and 17, the tour also saw a number of official meetings and view exchanges focused mainly on harnessing and enhancing greater political cooperation between the two countries to achieve the shared aspirations of development and prosperity.
The delegation, headed by Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP, consisted of eight Members of Bangladesh Parliament and seven leaders and activists of Bangladeshi Awami League and its associate bodies.
As part of the tour, the delegation primarily participated in various meetings and view exchanges with concerned leaders and officials of the Chinese government and the CPC.
The MPs in the delegation include Kazi Nabil Ahmed, Nahim Razzaq, Farhad Hossain, Abul Kalam Md Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury (Duke), Razee Mohammad Fakhrul, Fazilatun Nasa Bappy, Amatul Kibria Keya Chowdhury and Nurjahan Begum.
The party leaders and workers include assistant secretaries of central sub-committee of Bangladesh Awami League- Biplab Barua, Shah Ali Farhad, Tarik Shomi, Tonmoy Ahmed, Farzana Begum, and H M Jahidul Islam. Joint Secretary of Bangladesh Youth Women's League Kohale Quddus (Mukti) was also a member of the delegation.
