Bangabandhu Fellowship Bill, 2016 passed

The bill has the provisions for producing skilled and specialized scientists, technicians and researchers with a view to establishing a science and technology based society.

It has also a provision of constituting the Bangabandhu Fellowship Trust to create scope for receiving higher education in science and technology at home and abroad.

The bill proposed constituting a 12-member board of trustees headed by the minister concerned.

Earlier, Science and Technology Minister Architect Yeafes Osman introduced the bill in the House on January 31 this year.

The cabinet approved draft of the law on November 23, 2015.
