Published on December 24, 2015Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally handed over the keys of the ambulances to authorities concerned of the institutes and hospitals at a function at her official residence Ganabhaban here on Thursday morning.
The institutions and hospitals received the ambulances are- Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Memorial KPJ Specialized Hospital and Nursing College at Gazipur, Bangabandhu Science and Technology University at Gopalganj, Patuakhali, Sherpur and Dinajpur Sadar hospitals, Mongla, Nikhangchhari, Pirganj, Melandaho and Ramgarh upazila health complexes.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister thanked Nitol-Tata for donating the ambulances and called upon other corporate bodies and business organizations to come forward with such support to cooperate with the government in providing healthcare services to the people.
The Prime Minister said, Father of the Nation had taken initiative to ensure basic needs of the people including healthcare facilities. To materialise his dream, the government has been working relentlessly keeping in mind that 'health is the key to all happiness'.
Sheikh Hasina laid importance for proper maintenance of the ambulances, saying a fund should be created from the rent of the ambulances to incur their regular operational and maintenance costs.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jahid Malek, FBCCI President and the Chairman of the Nitol-Niloy Group Abdul Matlub Ahmed and Head of International Business of TATA Motors Johnny Oommen also spoke on the occasion while Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Syed Manjurul Islam conducted the ceremony.
PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim and former FBCCI President Qazi Akram Uddin Ahmed were present, among others.
