Published on December 16, 2015The Prime Minister paid the homage by placing a wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi here this morning.
She stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of profound respect to the memory of Bangabandhu, the architect of independence.
Flanked by senior leaders of the party, Sheikh Hasina, also the president of Bangladesh Awami League, placed another wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation as the party chief.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister released six commemorative stamps, three first day covers, three data cards and a souvenir marking the 45th Victory Day today.
She released the stamps, first day covers, data cards and souvenir at her official Ganobhaban residence here this morning. A special cancelor was used on the occasion.
Bangladesh Post Office issued the six stamps -- one on the Victory Day (Taka 10), four on traditional boats (Taka 10 each) and one on the historic concert staged at Madison Square in New York by Sitar Maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar and world famous singer George Harrison in 1971 (Taka 60) -- on the occasion of the 45th Victory Day.
It also published a Taka 100 souvenir, three first day covers (Taka 10 each) and three data cards (Taka 5 each) on the occasion.
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, State Minister for Post and Telecommunication Tarana Halim, PM's Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad, Post and Telecommunication Secretary Md Faizur Rahman Chowdhury and PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim were present, among others.
