Published on December 7, 2015The approval came in the regular weekly meeting of the cabinet held at Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday morning with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Bijay Bhattacharya said the draft laws were endorsed in principle subject to the vetting of the Law Ministry.
He said the draft laws have been framed in the light of the Metropolitan Police Acts of other metropolitan cities of the country as those (laws) are necessary to ensure better legal and police services for the people of metropolitan cities.
After a detailed discussion, he said, the cabinet gave some observations on the proposed draft laws and directed the authorities concerned to finalize those after completing necessary legal activities to this end.
Bhattacharya also said the cabinet was apprised of the visits of the civil aviation and tourism Minister to the United States on July 10-17, Vietnam on March 16-21 and Cambodia on February 4-6 this year.
Besides, the participation of a Bangladesh delegation led by fisheries and livestock minister in the First International Fisheries Stakeholders' Forum held in Vigo City, Spain on October 8-9 on the occasion of the 29th founding anniversary of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries was informed.
Bhattacharya said the cabinet was also apprised the participation of a Bangladesh delegation in the Second Bangladesh-UK e-Commerce Fair held in London on November 13-14 last.
Ministers, state ministers concerned attended the meeting, while secretaries concerned were present.
