Published on October 5, 2015The cabinet adopted a resolution appreciating her leadership saying due to the political wisdom, steadfast determination and farsightedness of the Prime Minister, Bangladesh could emerge as a glaring example of total development and Bangladesh's successes could draw the attention of the international community.
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) conferred the 'Champions of the Earth Award' and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) of the UN conferred the 'ICTs in Sustainable Development Award' on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA) last month in New York.
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the cabinet appreciated very successful visit of the Prime Minister to New York and her able leadership to take the country to a new height in the international forum.
The cabinet in particular was glad to note the selection of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with other nine Heads of State and Government for "ICTs in Sustainable Development Award', a newly introduced annual honour by ITU recognizing leadership in sustainable development through ICTs.
The other world leaders who received the award this year are- Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of the Gabonese Republic, Uhuru Kenyatta, President of Kenya, Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, Tabare Vazquez, President of Uruguay, Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama, Prime Minister of Fiji, Dato' Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia, General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of Thailand and Meltek Sato Kilman Livtuvanu, Prime Minister of Vanuatu.
Members of the cabinet expressed their firm conviction that Bangladesh in line with success of MDGs would be able to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the leadership of Prime Minister of Sheikh Hasina.
