"During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Dr Mohammad Javad Zarif briefed his Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmud Ali on different aspects of the nuclear deal particularly the future course of action for implementation of the deal," a foreign office statement said.

It added: "The Iranian minister reaffirmed Iran's commitment for implementation of the Agreement and sought Bangladesh's support in this regard".

The Bangladesh foreign minister called the deal as "historic and landmark" and said "the agreement has proved once again the paramount importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving disputes through the peaceful process".

But the Iranian call came a day after US Senate Democrats, for the second time in a week, blocked legislation meant to upset the nuclear deal negotiated by the Obama administration and other world powers with Tehran.

According to the statement trade and investment, energy, science and technology, culture & education, shipbuilding, blue economy and tourism sectors were "identified as potential areas of enhanced cooperation between the two countries".

Zarif expressed his country's willingness to improve cooperation with Bangladesh through exchange of visits both in private and public sectors.

"Both the Foreign Ministers agreed to enhance and deepen bilateral relations for mutual benefit of the two peoples," the statement said.

Iran signed the in July this year with China, France, Germany, Russia, the UK, the USA and the European Union which is widely dubbed as Iran and E3/EU+3.

Months of hectic diplomatic exercise yielded the long term agreement that will verifiably prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and ensure that Iran's nuclear programme will be exclusively peaceful going forward.
