A HC division bench comprising Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal passed the order, disposing of a rule passed in this regard earlier.
The BNP-Jamaat government conducted the drive starting from October 16, 2002 to January 9, 2003. The then government on February 24, 2003 gave indemnity for the activities of joint forces carried out under the drive.
Senior jurist ZI Khan Panna on June 14, 2012, filed a writ with the High Court, challenging the legality of the indemnity. After hearing the matter, the court on July 29, 2012, issued a rule in this regard.
