5.2 Million More Students To Get Stipends At Primary Level: Primary And Mass Education Minister Mostafizur Rahman

"Currently, some 7.8 million students at primary level is getting stipend and the number would be increased to 1.30 crore soon," he said at a press conference at his ministry office that organized to mark the International Literacy Day.

Mentioning that educated and skilled human resources are inevitable for the overall development of the country, the minister said drop-out rate and discrimination in education has been reduced significantly.

The government is determined to eliminate illiteracy from the country, he added, saying, a mega project titled "Basic Literacy" with own financing is going to be launched to wipe out illiteracy.

Mostafizur said there is no alternative to literacy in the tech-based world to ensure social and economic development.

Nazrul Islam, MP, secretary of the ministry Mezbaul Alam and other officials concerned were present.
