On her arrival at the venue at 6:30 pm, the Prime Minister was received by Muhith.
Later, Sheikh Hasina accompanied by the finance minister went round different tables set for the guests and exchanged pleasantries with them.
A special munajat was offered before the iftar seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation. Pesh Imam of Ganobhaban Jame Masjid Maulana Mohammad Atiqur Rahman conducted the munajat.
Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other martyrs of the August 15 carnage and the martyrs of the Liberation War.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Leader of the Jatiya Sangsad Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Chief Justice SK Sinha, Leader of the Opposition Begum Raushan Ershad, Prime Minister's Special Envoy and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, ministers, state ministers, parliament members and chiefs of the three services joined the iftar.
Besides, attorney general, educationists, editors, journalists, business leaders and leaders of different professional bodies and high civil and military officials attended the Iftar.
