Tulip Siddiq wins in UK polls

Tulip, daughter of Sheikh Rehana, was elected from Labour Party in the Hampstead and Kilburn constituency.

She got 23,977 against her Conservative counterpart Simon Marcus' 22,839 votes, according to BBC polls result.

Besides, Rushanara Ali and Rupa Huq, two other Bangladesh-origin candidates, were elected in the polls.

Rushanara Ali, the first British lawmaker with roots in Bangladesh, was re-elected as an MP from Labour Party in Bethnal Green and Bow constituency with a majority of 24,317 votes.

Labour Party candidate Dr Rupa Huq got 22,002 votes while her rival Conservative Party backed Angie Bray obtained 21,728 votes.
