Published on May 6, 2015Speaking at a seminar on 'Terrorism and Conspiracy versus Development and Democracy' at Banbabandhu International Conference Center here, he said "Awami League has a glorious track record of leading all nationalists' movements, including the war of liberation and restoration of the democracy in the country."
Joy posed a question whether BNP, which brought back the war criminals home, rehabilitated them in politics and inducted them in the cabinet, could be termed as a nationalist or not. Rather, he said, the AL, which has been trying the war criminals and terrorists, is the real nationalist force of the country.
Shuchinta Foundation organized the seminar which was addressed, among others, by writer Syed Shamsul Haq, Ekattor Television chief Mozammel Babu, Sholakia Eidga Imam Moulana Farid Uddin Masud. Foundation convener Mohammad A Arafat gave the welcome address in the seminar.
Besides, the newly elected Dhaka North and Dhaka South city corporations' mayors -Annisul Haq and Sayeed Khokan-- delivered welcome addresses in the seminar.
A book titled 'Diary of Violence' was unveiled in the seminar. The book contained violence-related photographs and news items during the 92-day movement of BNP-Jamaat's.
Joy said AL is the party which never bowed down to anyone for the sake of the country's interest.
"Despite pressure from the outside world, war criminals are being executed during the reign of Awami League. People are with us so that we can do it" he added.
Joy said it is a matter of sorrow that some people feel ashamed of taking stand in support of the party. They feel ashamed to chant "Joy Bangla", he added.
The prime minister's adviser said Joy Bangla slogan is not the slogan of Awami League only rather it is a slogan of the country.
"Those who feel ashamed to chant Joy Bangla slogan, I would say they are not Bangalees, they cannot be Bangalee" Joy said.
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia should be tried for carrying out three-month long subversive activities and killing of people in the name of hartal and blockade.
"Khaleda Zia would be tried on the street of Dhaka. We would build a peaceful Dhaka city by resisting the conspirators under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he added.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Annisul Huq said nobody likes the acts of terror and sabotage.
"Awami League government also stands strongly against terrorism. The government is doing everything possible to ensure peace and security of the people," he added.
