PM Inaugurates Establishments at Dhaka Cantonment

The establishments included Niswarga Residential Area for the soldiers of Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Line, a modern office and Sainik Line of 57 East Bengal Regiment, the picturesque and modern Nirjhar Residential Area for officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and soldiers and head office of Sena Paribar Kalyan Samity "Surjyakanya".

In Nirjhar Residential Area, Sheikh Hasina, also the Defence Minister, opened two residential buildings for the officers, one for the JCOs and two for the soldiers by unveiling their plaques.

She also inaugurated a 110-meter double-deck bridge, a students' hostel, patient attendant rest house, the Cantonment Public School and College, Bangladesh International School and College and Tribeni Restaurant at Nirjhar Residential Area by unveiling the plaques.

A munajat was offered seeking continued development of the armed forces as well as peace, progress and prosperity of the nation. Later, the Prime Minister visited the places and establishments.

PM's Security Advisor Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, PM's Special Envoy and Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad, Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Muhammad Enamul Bari, Acting Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral AMMM Awrangazeb Chowdhury and Senior Secretary of the Defence Ministry Kazi Habibul Awal were present on the occasion. Besides, former army chiefs were present at the function.

Earlier, on her arrival at Dhaka Cantonment, the Prime Minister was received by Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, Quarter Master General Lt Gen Anwar Hussain, Engineer-in-Chief Maj Gen Md Abdul Quadir and Area Commander, Logistics Area, Maj Gen Mizanur Rahman Khan.
