Published on March 31, 2015Power Grid Company Bangladesh Limited (PGCB) will implement the project to expand the existing grid interconnection by June 2018 involving Taka 1,404 crore.
Under the project, there will be construction of 12 km long Bheramara-Ishwardi 230 KV double circuit transmission line (including river crossing and construction of Bheramara 500 MW HVDC back-to-back sub-station (2nd module).
The approval came from today's ECNEC meeting held at the NEC conference room in the city's Sher-e-Banglanagar with ECNEC Chairperson and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
State Minister for Finance and Planning M A Mannan briefed the newsmen about the outcome of the 24th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal.
He said the ECNCE approved a total of six development projects including the Bheramara-Baharampur grid connection with an outlay of Take 52,778 crore.
"Of the total project cost, the government will provide Taka 40,481 crore from the national exchequer while the organization concerned will contribute Taka 117.76 crore from own fund and the remaining Taka 12,178 crore will come as project assistance," added Mannan.
He informed Asian Development Bank (ADB) will provide Taka 844.88 crore for the expansion of Bheramara-Baharampur grid connection.
The day's ECNEC meeting approved another project "Tripura (India)-Comilla south substation (Bangladesh) grid interconnection project" with Taka 179.45 crore.
PGCB will implement the project by June 2016 under which Bangladesh would import 100 MW of power from Palatana power station of Tripura through Comilla south power sub-station.
A 43km long transmission line will be constructed at Tripura (India)-Comilla south power sub-station and two 132 KV bay will be expanded at Comilla south power substation under the project.
The State Minister for Finance and Planning said there would be scope for raising the capacity further.
The other projects approved by the ECNEC are: Health, Population and Nutrition Sector Development Programme (HPNSDP) (revised) with Taka 51,082 crore, BSCIC Industrial Estate, Srimangal (1st revised) project with Taka 40.14 crore, Roumari- Tura land port road construction project with Taka 35.07 crore, and Farming and Research of Kuchia and Crabs in selected areas of Bangladesh with Taka 36.24 crore.
Ministers and State Ministers attended the meeting. Planning Commission members and Secretaries concerned were also present.
