The Prime Minister made the request when visiting Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of Spain Ignacio Ybanez Rubio made a courtesy call on her at her Jatiya Sangsad Office this evening.
After the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri briefed the reporters saying, the Prime Minister and the Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs discussed issues relating to bilateral interests.
The Prime Minster thanked Ignacio Ybanez Rubio for visiting Bangladesh and hoped that the bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Spain would be further strengthened in the coming days.
Sheikh Hasina said her government has ensured an investment-friendly atmosphere in the country by providing various facilities for the investors. "The Spanish entrepreneurs can exploit these opportunities by making investment in a larger volume," she said.
The Prime Minister also urged the Spanish government to import world-class Bangladeshi goods like ceramics, leather and leather goods, jute and jute goods and pharmaceuticals apart from the RMG products.
She highlighted Bangladesh's successes in various socio-economic fields including reduction of poverty side by side with increasing the GDP growth rate.
Ybanez Rubio expressed the Spanish government's interest to work in the energy, road transport and railway sectors in Bangladesh.
He said they could set up a rail line in Bangladesh like the under-construction Makkah-Madina rail tracks in Saudi Arabia being implemented by a Spanish company.
In this connection, he mentioned that some Spanish companies are now working in different sectors in Bangladesh.
The Spanish Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs highly praised Bangladesh's tremendous success in different sectors including infrastructure and energy under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
PM's International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi, PMO Secretary Suraiya Begum, Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh Luis Tejada and Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhuri were present.
