Qatar Keen To Import Manpower From Bangladesh

The minister told reporters while exchanging views after returning from Qatar at his ministry office.

He said Qatar is developing its infrastructure massively ahead of football world cup-2022 which requires a huge number of manpower. Qatar has made commitment to prioritize Bangladesh in requiting manpower, he added.

Mosharraf said private recruiting agencies would send manpower to Qatar under the supervision of government.

Under the process, Demand Letter (DL) would be deposited to the Directorate of Public Recruitment, Qatar and then it would be forwarded to the Bangladesh Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET). Later, the BMET would scrutinize the DL and send the manpower through private agencies selecting them from its databank.

The minister said Bangladesh-Qatar Joint Working Committee meeting would fix the wages of the labourers on the basis of discussion.

He informed nearly 3 lakh labourers are now working in Qatar and the employer authority has no objection about their working capacity.

The Minister along with a delegation recently visited Qatar and sat bilateral meeting on expansion of labour market, manpower export, reduction of migration cost and other issues.

Secretary of the ministry Khandaker Md Iftekhar Haider and BMET Director General Begum Shamsun Nahar were present.
