Barry University Honoured Saima Hossain with 'Distinguished Alumni Award-2015'

The university honoured Saima for her outstanding contributions to the health services at the international level.

The award-giving ceremony was held at the university auditorium on February 19 where teachers and students and eminent citizens were present, said a press release here today.

The citation mentioned, "Saima W Hossain is a psychologist and international proponent for children with autism.

She completed her Specialist Degree in the School Psychology Program (BA in Psychology 1997, Master degree in Clinical Psychology 2002 and Specialist Degree in School Psychology 2004).

While studying at Barry University, she began her research on the status of women in Bangladesh and was later awarded the Outstanding Scientific Presentation by the Florida Academy of Sciences."

In 2008, Saima started her work as an advocate for children with autism and neuro-developmental disorders.

In September, 2014, the World Health Organization (WHO) gave WHO Excellence Award for Public Health in recognition of her contribution to public health at a global level.
