Published on February 16, 2015The cabinet in its weekly meeting today approved a proposal of the Finance Division in this regard.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the cabinet meeting held in the cabinet room of Bangladesh Secretariat. Cabinet members, PM's advisors, state ministers in charge of different ministries and concerned secretaries were present.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said under the proposal the financial power of the Cabinet Committee will remain unchanged. However, ministries and field level officials will get power to take up and execute more big size projects.
As per the cabinet decision, the cabinet secretary said, Finance Division will ascertain the fresh financial power of the officials and new notification will be issued in this regard. The decision was taken against the backdrop of growth of the national budget and size of the country's economy, he said.
The cabinet also approved a previous decision of the cabinet for annulment of the Bangladesh Railway Board (Repeal) Act-1983 considering the inoperativeness of the law.
The cabinet adopted a resolution giving thanks to Abudus Sobhan Sikder, outgoing principal secretary to the Prime Minister, for his service to the nation for the last 34 years in different capacities in the civil administration. Sikder went on Post Retirement Leave (PRL) yesterday.
