PM For Making BCIM Business Council More Effective to Boost Trade Relations

The Prime Minister expressed this view when newly elected Chairman of BCIM Business Council Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmad called on her at her Ganobhaban residence here this evening.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, PM's Press Secretary AKM Shamim Chowdhury said the Prime Minister hoped that through the BCIM Business Council, Bangladesh's trade ties and connectivity with the BCIM members, especially China, would be strengthened further.

Extending her warm congratulations to the newly-elected BCIM Business Council chairman for his success, Sheikh Hasina advised him to enhance the country's image further and increase trade and commerce by performing his responsibilities smoothly and properly.

The Prime Minister wished continued success of the BCIM Business Council.

First Vice-President of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) Monwara Hakim Ali and Vice-President Md Helaluddin were present on the occasion.

FBCCI President Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed has been elected the BCIM Business Council chairman for a two-year tenure.

The BCIM Business Council has been formed with a view to increasing trade and commerce between the BCIM members. China was earlier the chairman of the Business Council.

Taking chairmanship by Bangladesh is being viewed a success of the country, the press secretary said, adding this success is a part of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to China last year.
