Published on December 29, 2014"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the 11 new government medical colleges across the country in January next year," said the minister at a meeting relating to enactment of two separate laws for turning Rajshahi Medical College and Chittagong Medical College into universities.
The health minister presided over the meeting, an official release said.
Secretary of the health ministry Syed Monjurul Islam, Director General of Health Services Professor Dr Deen Mohammad Nurul Huq, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Prof Dr Mahmud Hasan, Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council Registrar Dr m Jahedul Huq Basunia and BMA Secretary General Dr Iqbal Arsalan were present.
Of the total 11 medical colleges, six are government medical colleges while the rest five are military medical colleges.
The meeting also discussed the draft of acts for protection of wellbeing of patients, protection for health services providers and organizations and transplantation of human organs.
