Published on November 23, 2014Chief Executive Officer of Haldor Topsoe, Bjerne S. Clausen, and Executive Vice President of the same company, Ulrik Federspiel, showed the interests when they called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official Ganobhaban residence here yesterday evening.
Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Hanne Fugl Eskjaer accompanied the Danish investors.
After the meeting, Prime Minister's Press Secretary AKM Shamim Chowdhury briefing the newsmen said they discussed issues related to boosting ties in the fields of trade and investment between Bangladesh and Denmark.
The Danish entrepreneurs put emphasis on rehabilitation of the existing fertilizer factories in Bangladesh side by side with setting up of new ones which will be gas-efficient.
In this connection, the Prime Minister hoped that the existing gas crises in the country would soon be over as new gas fields are being discovered.
Sheikh Hasina called upon the Danish entrepreneurs to invest in Paira Sea Port. In reply, the Danish entrepreneurs agreed to invest in the port.
The Prime Minister also urged them to make more investment in country's agriculture, education and shipbuilding sectors saying that it would bring benefit for both the countries.
At the meeting, the Danish investors also lauded Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dynamic and visionary leadership and said Bangladesh is progressing fast under her leadership.
Referring to ongoing Danish assistance in Bangladesh's uplift, they also said Copenhagen would always remain as development partner of Dhaka like the past.
It may be mentioned that Haldor Topsoe is a partner organization of Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company (KAFCO).
