Upon the invitation of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Hasina paid the visit and held talks with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Crown Prince and Foreign Minister Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The leaders vowed to take the strong ties that the two countries have to a new economic relationship with the signing of series of agreements on many issues including a deal of recruiting female Bangladeshi workers.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inked the deal with her UAE counterpart for recruiting between 1,000 and 2,000 female household workers a month from Bangladesh, which is being considered a major breakthrough.

The move takes Bangladesh another step forward towards getting back the access to the manpower market in the oil-rich Gulf nation, the second largest manpower destination for Bangladesh.

In this regard, the UAE agreed to appoint a labour attaché at its embassy in Dhaka from the beginning of the next year to simplify the procedure of recruiting manpower from Bangladesh.

At a meeting with Chairman of Dubai Port World (DP World) Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the PM invited Dubai Port World authorities to conduct a feasibility study on constructing a deep seaport at Paira, Patuakhali.

She also urged Ahmed bin Sulayem to carry out a study on construction of a special economic zone, a 150-kilometer marine driveway from Teknaf to Mirersarai in Chittagong and a modern airport in Bangladesh.

Responding positively to Bangladesh's request, the DP World chairman agreed to send a delegation to Bangladesh soon.

During the PM's visit, Bangladesh and the UAE also signed deals on security cooperation, transfer of sentenced prisoners and handing over land for construction of the UAE Embassy in Dhaka.

Sheikh Hasina visited the mazar of the founder of the mosque and Father of the Nation of the UAE Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and offered Fateha there.
