PM Urges All to Come Forward to Cut Disaster Risk

In a message on the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk, she said the government has taken a number of effective measures to minimize the loss of lives and property caused by different natural calamities.
The Prime Minister said, "I am happy to learn that the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction will be observed tomorrow in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world"
The theme of this year's International Day for Disaster risk Reduction "Resilience for life" is time-befitting, she said adding, "We can make Bangladesh a disaster resilient country by utilizing experiences of elderly people on disaster management."
The Prime Minister said, "We enacted the Standing Orders on Disaster in 1997 and revised it in 2010 to make it more time- befitting. The government also adopted National Plan for Disaster Management 2010-2015, Cyclone Shelter Construction, Maintenance and Management Policy, 2011."
"I wish all the programmes of the day a grand success," she added.
