Cabinet Approved The Proposal For Tejgaon Conversion

The approval was given in a meeting of the cabinet held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, cabinet secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said the government would prepare a master plan for conversion of Tejgaon industrial zone which was developed on 500.20 acreas of land in 1950s.
After the conversion, there would have no heavy or labour intensive industry in Tejgaon. The owners of the 430 plots of the industrial area have to pay fee for conversion of their plots, he said.

The cabinet secretary said the Prime Minister in the meeting stressed the need for taking a well-thought out master plan for conversion of the industrial zone.

The cabinet also approved proposal for ratification of the agreement signed between Bangladesh and the Philippines for waiving visa of diplomatic and official passport holders. Under the agreement, diplomatic and official passport holders of the two countries can visit each other countries for 30 days or can take transit without visa.
