PM For Implementing Various Programs To Provide Job-oriented Education

"There is no alternative to well-educated and skilled human resources for overall development of the country and consolidating democracy as well," she said in a message on the eve of International Literacy Day-2014.

The premier said the UN secretary general has introduced five-year "Global Education First Initiative" to ensure education for all and achieve the goals of Millennium Development Goal (MDG).

Because of the initiative, 14 countries including Bangladesh became champion in a conference at UN Head Quarters in 2012, she said.

The prime minister said UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) has requested Bangladesh to organise a conference styled "Girls and Women Literacy and Education: Foundations for Sustainable Development" of this year to spread the country's success in women education to other UN countries.

She wished success of all programmes of the Day.
