But the pitiable plea of the baby shook the Heavens but it did not elicit sympathy among the killers that day. Like all other members of Bangabandhu's family, this little child was also killed in cold blood.

In his book "A few events surrounding Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib and Bangladesh" Dr M A Wajed Miah narrates the incident.

Wajed Miah writes that when all members of the Bangabandhu family were being shot, Russell ran downstairs and took shelter among the servants of the house. Abdur Rahman Roma who had taken care of him for a long time was holding his hand.

A little later, a soldier took him away saying that they were taking him away from the house. Russell was crying repeatedly and appealed to them to spare his life.

Responding to Russell's earnest appeal, the soldier hid him in the sentry box.

But half-an-hour later, a major seeing him there, took him upstairs and shot him in cold blood.

A student of Class-IV at the Dhaka University's Laboratory School, the restless Russell was just getting acquainted with his father's political life.

Before killing Sheikh Russell, the assassins had killed the other members of the family: Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal, Mother Fazilatunnesa Mujib and Father, the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Sheikh Hasina's youngest sibling, Sheikh Russell was born on October 17, 1964 at Dhanmandi's Bangabandhu Bhabhan.
