Sheikh Kamal’s 65th Birth Anniversary Has Been Observed

To mark the day, Awami League and its front organizations drew up elaborate programme to celebrate his birth anniversary.

The Awami League paid tribute at the portrait of Shahid Sheikh Kamal at the premises of Dhanmondi Abahoni Club at 8am. The recitation of Holy Quran; milad-mahfil and Doa-Mahfil have been held at Banani graveyard at 9am.

Besides, the Awami Swechachasebok League, Jubo League and Bangabadhu Sangskrit Jote also observed the day organizing various programs.

Awami Swechachasebok League will pay tribute at the portrait of Shahid Sheikh Kamal at Abahani Club premises in the city at 8.30am.

The Swechachasebok League also will hold discussion meeting, milad and doa-mahfil at Bangabandhu Bhaban.

Awami League presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim will attend the programme as the chief guest.

Meanwhile, the Jubo League has arranged a discussion meeting on the occasion of Sheikh Kamal's birth anniversary at Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue here at 11am.

Awami League general secretary and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Syed Ashraful Islam in statement today urged the people of all strata including the leaders and activists of the ruling party and its associate organizations to celebrate the day amid due respect.

Born on August 5, 1949, at Tungipara in Gopalganj, Sheikh Kamal was the founder-president of the country's leading sporting club Abahani Krira Chakra and founder-member of Dhaka Theatre.
